Probate – Top Tips

1.       Make sure you have a Will. Do not leave it to chance.

2.       A google search is not reliable and if you need inheritance tax advice, speak to someone who can properly advice you. A small fee at the start is better than a 40% tax bill at the end.

3.       Everyone should think about LPAs. If the last few years has taught us anything it is to expect the unexpected.

4.       Keep records. You can make it easier for family members and executors by keeping a record of your accounts and financial details in a secure place that they know about.

5.       If you have concerned about someone’s capacity and them making decisions, act early as Deputyships are expensive and take a lot of time.
